Last Hollywood Meeting 10/20 by Steve Schor
Gold Coast Coin Club Meeting, Thursday October 20, 2011
At 5:30 PM, when I arrived at the Hollywood Beach Civic Center several club members were already busy with numismatic exchange. The place began to fill up afterwards rather rapidly. Lots of personal interaction with coin and paper money items was evident. Ron Plask in particular, exhibited part of his paper money collection, which included some broken bank notes, Confederate currency, US Federal issues and a sizable group of US error notes in high grade.
Many thanks to Bill Tallant, who provided refreshments.
I continued to take banquet reservations for both the Fort Lauderdale and Gold Coast clubs and collected quite a few for each club. At this time reservations are closed for the Fort Lauderdale club. I will continue to take reservations for Gold Coast club till the last Fort Lauderdale show on November 20.
At 6:30 PM, Bill Sanders began the video presentation on the most recent findings on Continental and State paper money of the Revolutionary War. Randy Campbell introduced the presenter at the Fun show. Many new discoveries were noted by the presenter. These were hitherto not known to the collecting community. About 7 people attended and all indicated an enlightening and interesting presentation.
The regular meeting started at about 7:30 PM. The meeting was interrupted by wraps and potato salad which were on the menu for dinner.
After dinner, the meeting resumed. I indicated that all candidates for offices and board positions were running unopposed. A motion to accept the nominees as given at the last board meeting was presented and seconded. The motion was passed unanimously. The Board and Officers are as follows:
1. President- Bill Tallant
2. First Vice President- Lou Kleinman
3. Second Vice President- Harry Schwartz
4. Secretary- Herb Clausen
5. Treasurer- Bill Sanders
6. Board members-Mike Pearl, Mark Kaplan, Ed Napoli, Stan Klein, Steve Schor, Roger Lane, Harvey Bastacky, Steve Rubinstein, Denis Bernard, Mark Eshleman.
The meeting ended at 9:00 PM.
Faithfully submitted,
Steve Schor
